Increase Your Facebook Fan EngagementIf you have a Facebook Page or thinking about creating one…then this article is for you!

I’ve recently launched Elite Marketing Secrets Fan Page but had no clue that the average page reaches 7%  of it’s fans daily according to Brian’s Carter article on Social Media Examiner.

Facebook has a news feed algorithm (often referred to as EdgeRank) that hides a significant portion of your updates from your fans, even when you’re getting good interaction. Most pages aren’t reaching a very high percentage of fans.

My heart just dropped when I read this! So why do businesses have fans then?

Well, the good news is that through better communication with your audience, you’ll achieve better reach.

So here are 5 Ways to Increase your Facebook News Feed Reach:

1. Calculate your reach:

You can do that by averaging your reach for the past 30 days (from your Facebook Page Insights) and dividing that by the total number of your fans (Little tip: If you can’t see your insights, then your fans are less 30). Facebook claims to reach 16-17% of fans so how can you be more visible and reach more of your fans’ eyes?

2. Always Post Photos:Photos Stimulate Engagement on Facebook

Photos get the highest visibility on posts more than text, links or even videos! On average, photos get 5-20 more times engagement and interaction than any other Facebook content. Brian listed great examples from other fan pages. You can caption images and write your text using some of these cool tools:

  • Fill in the Blank
  • Inspirational Quotes

4. Create Viral Exposure:

Ask your fans to participate by uploading their photos to a specific category and let them choose a winner from within. This satisfies their ego and truly gives a sense of belonging to a community. You’ll need to use a Facebook app to run the contest as it’s against Facebook Guidelines to run a contest without.

5. Drive Revenue with Sweepstakes and Coupons

Sweepstakes and coupons can help build your fans faster and better than a Facebook ad campaign. They can be shared with your fans friends.  Extole and Viral Impressions are examples provided for sweepstakes and coupons that you can also use as a marketer or you can customize you own using Lujure and ShortStack.

    Niveen, great advise on posting photos. I use to but then though Facebook was against it and penalised me. Going to give it another go and will monitor my reach this time. Thanks ~ Gordon
